Stories are a very valuable resource
for the teaching of a foreign language. Stories are fun and children like
listening to them. Moreover, they are a good resource we can use at all ages
because of its variety. Stories are a good tool because they help teachers to
develop vocabulary, enrich oral language, improve communicative skills between
students-students and teacher-students. Furthermore, tales engage pupils’ attention
and improve kids’ concentration.
1- The little vain rat
In this activity, pupils will have
the opportunity to develop their receptive and productive skills. In this way, I
have proposed a language-based task in which students will practice vocabulary
through a story. The teacher will be reading the tale by the time pupils will
be helping him/her to complete some missing information. Concretely, some words
which are directly related with ANIMAL
FARM VOCABULARY.
2- Old McDonald had a farm
Songs are also a good resource to
teach a foreign language. While working with songs students are doing
multiskilling tasks:
- Linguistic skills: drill structures, reinforcing/ recycling/introducing vocabulary, improving pronunciation, fluency, stress and intonation.
- Psychological and affective skills: the motivation to learn English which comes from the rhythm and rhyme of the songs.
- Sociocultural skills: shared experiences that help developing the group identity.
The following song could be really useful to
teach farm animals vocabulary!
Hello Mireia, I like your blog. I like the wallpaper you have choosen. It´s not very child but it,s very colorful.
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen a lot of variety of activities, hotpotates, song with youtube, a recipe of a chocolate cake explained by "The baby triplets". You have choose a cat of Voki who explain us wich is the activity. It's very good idea because it's funny and motivating at the same time.
Children can learn a lot of vocabulary about animals and food.
Maybe some extra activitie with the last song could be add in your blog to complete the last activity.
But I like your blog. Teacher can also learn or remember some information about wich are the reasons of working with songs in the English lessons.
Congratulations
