Let’s get dressed
In this entry I will post different activities
that can be useful to teach clothes
vocabulary.
To introduce the selected words (clothes
vocabulary), students can watch this interesting video so as to get
familiarized with the new concepts. I think that the activity will be really
appealing for young learners because they will be really engaged with the
proposed task as they have to interact with the “Wonkidos” (characters that
appear on the net). The teacher won’t be in charge of introducing the new
vocabulary. He/she will take profit of the source in order to present the task
as pleasant/attractive as possible to his/hers students.
Annie and Joe need
to get dressed
By using different flashcards, students will
review and consolidate the vocabulary. The purpose of this task is to dress up two
characters: Joe and Annie. The teacher will ask for volunteers and pupils will
have to decide the clothes that they will use in order to dress up these two
cartoons.
Once a kid has chosen some clothes, he/she will
have to recall the new words that he/she has already heard or learnt. In this
way, at the same time students are playing, they will be consolidating the
foreseen words. I think it is a good activity to deal with young learners in a ESL classroom.
